Darwin and the Top End | Custom Itinerary

Holidays Beckon - Cairns, QLD

This 7-night trip to Darwin combines a great mix of planned activities with time to enjoy getting to know the capital of the Northern Territory.

Upon arrival in Darwin you will be collected by your personal chauffer & taken to your apartment in the CBD, where you will spend the next 3 nights.

Visit Crocosaurus Cove with your included day ticket before collecting your rental car & touring around Darwin.

Take in local sights including the Darwin Military Museum, Aviation Museum, 1934 Qantas Hangar, Royal Flying Doctors Facility, before enjoying a Sunset Dinner Cruise aboard the Charles Darwin.

You will also enjoy a 2-Day Kakadu & East Alligator River tour plus a further full day Litchfield National Park Waterfalls tour.

On your final night in Darwin enjoy dinner at the Waterfront or, for something special, try Pee Wee’s at the Point.

My Personal Travel Experience

Day 1:

Your personal chauffeur will meet and greet you on arrival in Darwin, attend to your luggage & drive you to your accommodation in air-conditioned comfort while you relax.

Stay at the Argus Apartments Darwin, a new standard in 4.5-star Darwin accommodation apartments. Bigger than a hotel room you will never want to stay anywhere else. Argus Apartments Darwin is a 4.5 AAA rated serviced apartments complex.

Day 2:

Crocosaurus Cove, Darwin’s ultimate urban wildlife experience, allows visitors a unique, 360 degree, viewing experience of massive saltwater crocodiles, hatchlings and juveniles as well as being home to the World’s largest display of Australian Reptiles.

Located in the heart of Darwin city, Crocosaurus Cove features a daily program of activities, including a twice daily big croc feed; meet the reptiles encounter and barramundi feeding in a 200,000 litre freshwater aquarium.

Pick up your rental car in the late afternoon & take a drive to a great location to enjoy the sunset & to grab a bit to eat. Try local favourites such as La Beach in Cullen Bay, the Trailer Boat Club in Fannie Bay or the fish & chip van at Nightcliff Jetty.

Day 3:

Spend the day touring around Darwin & suburbs. There are many places of interest. See the Darwin Military Museum & the No. 2 Gun Turret at East Point, visit the Darwin Aviation Museum in Winnellie, see the 1934 Qantas museum & enjoy a coffee afterwards at the Cool Spot in Fannie Bay, or take a drive to Casuarina Beach and enjoy breakfast daily at De la Plage, a family and dog friendly café along the Casuarina Coastal Reserve. They also have  dinner on Friday nights & live entertainment on Sunday nights. During the dry season you could also visit the Mindil Beach markets which has over 200 stalls including food, arts, crafts, clothing, & personal services such as massage, tarot readings, and alternative health & healing.

Day 4:

Today you can experience what the survivors of Cyclone Tracy lived through at the exhibition at the Museum & Art Gallery, or learn more about the bombing of Darwin at the Royal Flying Doctors facility on Stokes Hill Wharf.

Later in the day join your Sunset Buffet Dinner Cruise aboard the Charles Darwin. It is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of the famous Darwin Sunset whilst enjoying a delicious Territory Style Buffet with Australian Seafood and Local produce all in air- conditioned comfort.

Day 5:

Start your 2 day Kakadu & East Alligator River tour today.

Depart Darwin and travel along the Arnhem Highway, their major river systems and wetlands, into Kakadu National Park. Located 257 kilometres east of Darwin, this national park covers 20,000 square kilometres of landscape from rocky escarpment, home to historic Aboriginal rock art dating back thousands of years, to floodplains abundant with wildlife.

Join your local guide on a cruise of Yellow Water Billabong. Search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned. After lunch, stop at Nourlangie, where your Driver Guide will lead you on a walk to view the rock art galleries.

Stay overnight at the Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel.

Day 6:

On your way back to Darwin, enjoy lunch at the Corroboree Park Tavern before making your way to Adelaide River to join the Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome creatures launch themselves out of the water. After the Cruise, we visit Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for view over the Marrakai Plains and a stop at Fogg Dam Nature Reserve.

Day 7:

Today you will join a full day tour to Litchfield National Park. The park contains several types of typical Top End habitats including lush monsoon forests, termite mounds, unusual rock formations, waterfalls and cascades. Follow the Stuart Highway via the township of Batchelor to Litchfield National Park where we will visit the main falls.

First stop is Florence Falls, where you have the opportunity for a scenic and interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walk. There is also the chance for a swim by making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below. Travel on to Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole at the base of the falls. Finally we visit Wangi Falls, with its large crystal clear pool, another relaxing spot for a swim.

Spend your last evening in Darwin enjoying a meal at the Waterfront, or  for something extra special try Pee Wee’s at the Point.

Day 8:

You will be picked up from your hotel by your personal chauffeur for your transfer back to Darwin airport in time for your flight home.
